Vice-Minister Paweł Sałek at a climate summit in Paris

Paweł Sałek, Vice-Minister of Environment and Government Plenipotentiary for Climate Policy, led the Polish government delegation during the “One Planet Summit”, a climate summit taking place on the 12th of December 2017 in Paris.

The summit was organised by French President Emmanuel Macron on the second anniversary of the Paris Agreement. The event, attended by presidents and prime ministers, as well as representatives of local authorities, businesses and NGOs from all over the world, was co-organised by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim.

The summit was devoted to issues related to financing activities for climate protection in developing countries from both public and private sources Discussions were held on the possibility of a greater mobilisation of resources, as well as new voluntary commitments in this area.

Vice-Minister Paweł Sałek was also a guest of President Emmanuel Macron during an official dinner at the Élysée Palace. Expressing his gratitude towards France for the initiative of organising the summit, Vice-Minister Sałek also expressed his hope that its results would also contribute to the success of the COP24 climate conference, which will be held in December 2018 in Katowice under the leadership of Poland.
