On 27 August 2008, joint meeting was held in Warsaw by the Voivodship Marshals and the Management of Environmental Sector 
 
On inauguration of their debates, Professor Maciej Nowicki, Minister of the Environment, emphasised tremendous role being performed in Poland by the Self-Governments as an excellent partner to all actions, including those pertaining to the environment.

The discussion was aimed at the issues relating to management of municipal waste, and water and sewage management in Municipalities, and also the questions pertaining to development of the air protection programmes and preparation of the applications for derogation of certain air pollutant limit values. 

The relevant addresses were delivered during the debates by Professor Maciej Nowicki, Minister of the Environment, Dr. Henryk Jacek Jezierski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, Chief National Geologist, Professor Andrzej Sadurski, President of the National Board for Water Management, and Dr. Andrzej Jagusiewicz, Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection. 

The representatives of respective Ministerial Departments also participated to the meeting and replied to questions asked by its interested participants.
