On 21-27 August 2008, Mr. Janusz Zaleski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, and the Representatives of the Polish COP 14 Organisational Team participate to the Accra Climate Change Talks 2008
    
The next round of United Nations climate change negotiations will take place in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. The Accra Climate Change Talks will take forward the work on a strengthened and effective international climate change deal under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as the work on emission reduction rules and tools under the Kyoto Protocol. They form a part of the negotiating process that will be concluded in Copenhagen at the end of 2009. Over a thousand participants are expected to attend the Accra meeting, which is the third major UNFCCC gathering this year.

Accra Climate Change Talks 2008 is the third and last in this year session being of important significance also to the Poznan Climate Change Conference. Participation of more than 1000 representatives from about 190 countries is expected. The venue for the sessions is the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). Mr. John Kufuor, President of Ghana, will inaugurate the session. The Ad hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action (AWG-LCA) will hold its session there, while the Ad hoc Working Group on further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP) will embark on the first part of its sixth session. Their meetings will provide for exchange of information before negotiations to be held during the COP 14. 

Mr. Janusz Zaleski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, presides the Polish Delegation, including the officials - members of the COP 14 Organisational Team. Ms. Ma³gorzata Snarska, Director of the COP 14 Organisational Team, will present report on the current status of the preparation to the COP 14. Mr. Tomasz Kayser who represents the Poznan Municipal Authorities will deliver presentation on the relevant events accompanying this-year Climate Change Conference to be held in this city. Mr. Janusz Reiter, Ambassador for Climate and Ms. Joanna Maækowiak-Pandera, Chief of the Minister's Political Office, Ministry of the Environment, also participate.
