On 6 August 2008, Professor Maciej Nowicki, Minister of the Environment, Republic of Poland, met Mr. Imre Szabó, Minister of the Environment and Water Resources, Republic of Hungary 
   
The topics discussed by both Ministers at the Ministry, in Warsaw, included the issues of the EU Climate and Energy Package, GMOs, integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC), waste management, and the NATURA 2000 European Ecological Network. Besides, they discussed the preparatory arrangements to the 15th Meeting of the Visegrad Group (V4) of Four Central European Nations Meeting of Environmental Ministers to be held on 18-19 September 2008, in Budapest.  

The participants to the meeting were also - on the Hungarian side: Mr. Róbert Kiss, Hungarian Ambassador to Warsaw, Mr. Józef Molnár, Chief, The Minister's Political Office, and Mr. Tibor Faragó, Director, Strategic Department; and on the Polish side: Mr. Janusz Zaleski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, and Ms. Joanna Maćkowiak-Pandera, Chief, The Minister's Political Office. 
  
During the meeting, the Polish Delegation also presented a handful of information on the current organisational arrangements to the COP 14 to be held in Poznan, Poland, on 1-12 December 2008.
