Promotion of Poland is provided at the 33rd World Geological Congress being held on 5-14 August 2008, in Oslo, Norway

The Geosciences World Congress 2008 is the greatest and the most prestigious event grouping the geologists' communities and the representatives of related domains worldwide. The Congress is organised in cycles held each 4 years and it constitutes a forum for presentation of views and exchange of information between thousands of geologists.

The previous Congress which was held in 2004, in Florence (Italy), attracted more than 7000 participants from 119 countries. During this-year edition, Poland is represented by a group of several dozen specialists of scientific institutions, universities and those of geological administrations.

Taking this significant opportunity, Polish Ministry of the Environment arranged for preparation of English-language version of a special journal titled "Geological Review" which includes descriptions of mostly interesting geological and tourism sites in Poland. Its particular articles can be downloaded from:

The journal will be distributed also during the Global Geotourism Conference 2008 to be held on 17-20 August 2008 in Australia (Fremantle-Perth).

Distribution of this journal during the current Congress is aimed at stimulation of interest in valuable geo-tourism sites in Poland.
