On 1 August Tribute Paid to Soldiers of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising
 
 
On 1 August 2008, at Ministry of the Environment, on the day of outbreak of the 64th Anniversary of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, Professor Maciej Nowicki, Minister of the Environment, paid tribute to its victims - the former Home Army soldiers. There is a tablet fixed at the façade wall of Ministry of the Environment that has been put there to commemorate the victims of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising against the Nazi occupation during WW II. The ceremony was also attended by other sectoral active and retired sectoral individuals officials, including Mr. Jerzy Baczuk, Chairman of the Board of the Timber and Forest Engineers Organisation, and also veterans grouped within the Club of the Former Home Army Soldiers associated with the Ministry and being a member of the World Union of the Polish Home Army Soldiers. Mr. Bernard Błaszczyk, Director General, Ministry of the Environment, and Ms. Joanna Maćkowiak-Pandera, Chief, The Minister's Political Office, and other Ministerial officials also participated. The ceremonial wreaths were laid upon the tablet.
