Warsaw, 03 July 2008 Dr. Henryk Jacek Jezierski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, Chief National Geologist, undertook this initiative on the occasion of official launching of the research project aimed at registration of seismic shocks and micro shocks which characterise status of the seismic hazards in specific areas of the Polish national territory. 24 seismic stations meeting the highest global technology standards were constructed under this project. Those provide for the current control of seismic hazard developments in selected Polish regions to enable respective reporting and forecasting, as well as preparation of seismic hazards maps. According to proposal put forward by Minister of the Environment this Project is financed with resources of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
