On 26 - 28 June 2008, in Cracow, the First Polish Geological Congress will be held, as organised by the Polish Geological Society. Its debates will be structured into two thematic sessions including presentations to be delivered by outstanding scientists covering various geological branches such as geophysics, hydrogeology, and geological engineering. During inaugural Plenary Session to be opened with address by Dr. Henryk Jacek Jezierski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, Chief National Geologist, he will deliver presentation titled "Quo Vadis, Polish Geology?" The Congresses are planned to organise in cycles, each 4 years with their principal objective to provide for reviews and assessments of advances in the field of the Polish geological ideas.
