On 16 June 2008, The Awards of Minister of the Environment were granted
 
 
On 16 June 2008, the Awards of Minister of the Environment for the outstanding achievements in the field of the protection, development and use of the environment, including also environmental resources were ceremonially granted to the winners of this-year edition of this annual competition. 

The Awards of Minister of the Environment are granted each year. The outstanding achievements mentioned above refer to their novelty and up-to-date nature, distinguishing by scientific, economic and social effects, and the implementation is the basic precondition of awarding them. The Awards may be also granted for the whole scientific and research output in the field environmental protection, water management, eco-geology, forestry and nature conservation, environmental education, and for popularisation of environmental issues.

26 applications were submitted for this year edition of the Ministerial Competition in the following fields of research activity:

- protection of water conditions, and water management 10 applications
- geo-ecology 1 application
- geology 2 applications
- forestry 2 applications
- environmental education and promotion of its related issues 3 applications
- instruments of sustainable development 1 application
- management and governance of environmental resources 1 application
