The twenty-eighth sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is held from 2-13 June 2008. Professor M. Nowicki will attend its part dedicated to setting out the emission reduction targets. Prior to the present session, he already attended the preliminary talks on 1-2 June 2008, i.e. those on the outcome of the talks held on 31 March - 4 April 2008, in Bangkok, Thailand, as dedicated to counteracting climate change. During the present meeting Professor M. Nowicki will present information on the current status of preparation to the 14th Conference of the Parties (COP14) serving as the 4th Meeting of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (MOP4), to be held in Poznan on 1-12 December 2008 - the greatest such event ever held in Poland so far. Professor Jerzy Buzek, the former Prime Minister of Poland, and currently Member of the European Parliament, and its Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, Committee on Public Health and Food Safety, and Temporary Committee on Climate Change, also participates to the 28th Session of SBSTA and SBI. |
