Professor Maciej Nowicki, Minister of the Environment, will participate to debates 
of the EU Environment Council
 (Luxembourg, 4-6 June 2008)
     
 
The agenda includes policy debates on the Climate and Energy package and the proposed regulation to reduce CO2 emissions from new cars. Other issues concern genetically modified organisms and the common position on whaling.

During debates to be held by the EU Environment Council Professor Maciej Nowicki will provide information on the state of preparedness Poland achieved to host the 14th Conference of the Parties (COP-14) to the UN Framework Climate Convention (UNFCCC), serving as the 4th Meeting of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (MOP-4), to be held on 1-12 December 2008, in Poznan. He will also convey invitation to participate in this tremendous international event. 
During his Luxembourg visit Professor M. Nowicki is also expected to meet Ms. Jacqueline Kramer, Minister of the Environment of the Netherlands to discuss the matters pertaining to financing the actions aimed at combating climate change.  Environmental Ministers of the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Slovenia will also participate.
