Good idea to raise big money! The first competition under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme
     
Acquisition of the applications for granting the Community subsidies to the first competition under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme, the priority (axes I and II) concerning construction of waste water treatment plants and sewerage systems, and waste management projects. The total of number of 96 projects was submitted totalling to more than 5 billion PLN.  

During the conference held in Książ n/Wałbrzych, Mr. Stanisław Gawłowski, Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, this result has to be considered a success. "- We made decision to manage the competitions as being convinced that is the best way for rational allocation of the resources, but we were afraid whether such an idea could bring about good results. However, although that is the first such type arrangement the future beneficiaries did quite well" - said Mr. S. Gawłowski.

No later than in the next 3 months, a list of the self-governmental entities will be drawn-up that - while submitting their best prepared projects for the competition - will be considered eligible in view of granting money. The most applications were submitted in Pomeranian, Mazovian and Silesian Voivodships - each 10. 

New competitions for the aforementioned axes will be launched in June, September and December, this year. 

During the meeting to which, among others, also the Presidents of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and of the respective Voivodship Funds participated, Ms. Ewa Mańkowska, President of the Board of the Voivodship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, in Wrocław, presented a wide-scope description of the investments planned in the Lower Silesian Region. Also, Annexes to the Cooperation Contracts between Ministry of the Environment and the individual Voivodship Funds were signed.
