On 29 - 30 May 2008, in Cracow, Dr. Henryk Jacek Jezierski, Under-Secretary of State,
Ministry of the Environment, Chief National Geologist, took part in w conference
titled "Change in Natural Environment and Sustainable Development"
  
The contemporary problems of the change in natural environment versus sustainable development are the major topics of the conference. During its first session, Dr. Henryk J. Jezierski delivered presentation on "Protection of Deposits and Resources - Facts or Myths". Mr. Micha³ Kie³sznia, Director, Department of Natura 2000 Sites, Ministry of the Environment, will present the current issues pertaining to the Natura 2000 European Ecological Network. Other addresses will be dedicated to the issues of the global and regional climate change, contemporary problems of water management and water resources, nuclear energy, clean coal fuels, and protection of biosphere and biological diversity.  

The conference is organised under patronage of Professor Maciej Nowicki, Minister of the Environment, Mr. Waldemar Pawlak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, and Professor Barbara Kudrycka, Minister of Science and Higher Education. 

The "Geosfera" Society for Research on Environmental Change, and the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of the AGH University of Science and Technology, in Cracow, are the organisers of the conference.
