On 21 May 2008, Dr. Henryk Jacek Jezierski, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of the Environment, Chief National Geologist, participates in the 4th Meeting 
of the Hard Coal Mining Sector Security Council

The topics to be discussed during the meeting in Katowice at the State Mining Authority include up-to-date technology for use of renewable energy sources, and also hard coal resources and other primary energy sources in the aspects of safety, ecology and business activity management.   

The meeting will provide an opportunity to listen to addresses prepared by outstanding Polish scientists. Their presentations will concern Poland's potential in the scope of existing primary energy sources and renewable energy sources, as well as the challenges faced by the Polish coal based energy sector (in the context of reduction of carbon dioxide emissions). 

Moreover, the lecturers will present the location (sequestration) issues of carbon dioxide in mining sector, the effective use of methane for business purposes, and the hydrogen management base upon gasification of coal.  

The purpose to discuss the aforementioned issues aims at contribution into putting in order the essential and difficult matters and to provide the participants to the meeting the outline of the current situation in the field of studies on and implementation of up-to-date technology for use of hard coal resources in Poland. The issues to be presented will form a starting point to discussion planned in course of debates of the Council.
  
 

The Hard Coal Mining Sector Security Council is a working body to President of the State Mining Authority. It groups the representatives of the mining supervisory bodies, managers of the coal companies, and scientists active in extractive branch.
