Towards Rio+20

Preparations for Rio+20 Conference were the main subject of the 12th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit held from 2 to 4 February. The meeting was attended by Janusz Zaleski, Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Environment, who talked during a ministerial session on best sustainable development practices, including  financing undertakings and related to climate change, about Polish experiences in this area.

Polish-Czech talks on environmental protection

Issues related to air quality, climate change and the conduct regarding environmental impact assessment in connection with the investments at the Polish-Czech border were the main subjects of talks during the meeting of Marcin Korolec and Tomas Chalupa, the Ministers of the Environment of Poland and the Czech Republic. The talks were held on 6 February in Warsaw.

In Brussels on shale gas

The scope of the environmental law and the exchange of views on the European experiences in the search for unconventional gas deposits were the topics of the first meeting of the working group on shale gas. During the EU debate, Poland presented its experiences related to the search for this resource.

Statement of the Ministry of the Environment on the fulfillment of duties in the area of geology

Reorganization of work, appointment of a Deputy Director temporarily heading the Department, and internal control - these are the decisions made by the Minister of the Environment related to the Department of Geology and Geological Concessions, warranting a proper execution of its statutory duties.

Ecotechnologies at the start of the 3rd edition of greenevo

There is only one month left for submitting Polish ecotechnologies to the GreenEvo project. For the third time, companies offering competitive solutions in the area of environmental protection compete for a place in this great race. The goal is the government support for their transfer to key foreign markets. This year we are looking for solutions in the area of counteracting climate change, ecological energy production, as well as environmentally friendly technologies for mining industry. The Ministry of the Environment accepts applications until 29 February 2012.

How many trees in the forest, how much forest in Poland?

By the end of the decade, nearly one third of Poland is to be covered with forests. In spite of a heap of hindrances on the way to achieve it, including a lack of terrains and poor economic interest of the landowners in afforestation, we are not far from this goal. Janusz Zaleski, Chief Nature Conservator, spoke in the Sejm on the expansion of the territory of forests and their condition.
