Ghost nets in the Baltic Sea – how to get rid of them?

The WWF, the Lithuanian Fund for Nature and the BalticSea2020 foundation have been running a programme to remove derelict fishing nets from the Baltic Sea for two years now. Under the patronage of the ministries competent for the environment of Poland and Lithuania, a seminar is being held in Vilnius to summarize the second year of project implementation. Invited to the seminar as guest is Janusz Zaleski, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Environment, Chief Nature Conservator.

Participants of the 4th edition of GreenEvo selected

Fourteen Polish companies which offer environmental technologies have qualified for the 4th edition of the GreenEvo programme of the Ministry of the Environment. The solutions selected by the Chapter of the Competition include passive housing technologies and small wind power station systems.

Annual evaluation of GreenEvo prize-winners

During the meeting of the Chapter of the competition “GreenEvo - Green Technology Accelerator” (11 March 2013), not only new participants of the 4th edition of the project were selected, but also the prize-winners of the previous three editions of the undertaking were subject to annual evaluation. The companies were analysed in detail on the basis of the “Annual prize-winner evaluation form” they submitted.

Minister Korolec nominated for MP Power Awards

The nomination follows from the fact that Minister Korolec has submitted Warsaw as candidate for hosting the COP19 UN Climate Conference on Climate Change. Poland has received approval to organise that global summit, which is expected to attract some 12 thousand delegates from all over the world.

EUR 125 million available under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment

The call for applications for financing of projects concerning water and sewage management and waste management under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Economy (OPI&E) has been launched. The funds available for use amount to a total of EUR 125 million.

Meeting of the Board of the Green Climate Fund

On 13-15 March, a third meeting of the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) will be held in Berlin, during which the rules of operation for that newly established global financial institution will be decided upon. The meeting will be attended by Beata Jaczewska, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Environment and member of the GCF Board.
