A Climate Summit convened by Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, was held on 23 September in New York. Poland was represented during the event by Bronisław Komorowski, the President of the Republic of Poland, and Marcin Korolec, Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Environment, Government Plenipotentiary for Climate Policy.
The Minamata Convention on Mercury was signed on 24 September in the UN Headquarters in New York by subsequent state and government representatives. The Republic of Poland was represented by Marcin Korolec, Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Environment, Government Plenipotentiary for Climate Policy.
The 1st Ecology Forum was held in Kołobrzeg. Over six hundred people from Poland and the countries of the Baltic Sea discussed the challenges currently facing environmental protection. Maciej Grabowski, the Minister of the Environment, was a special guest of the event.
This is the theme of a new educational campaign of the Ministry of the Environment dedicated to energy-efficient housing. The key message of the project is: owing to the funds saved on the bills for a green house, you will be able to make your dreams come true.
The Ministry of the Environment hosted a delegation from Vietnam headed by Nguyen Minh Quang, the Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, invited by Minister Maciej Grabowski. The talks focused on collaboration in the field of environmental protection and environmentally-friendly technologies.
On Wednesday, 10 September, Sławomir Brodziński, Vice-Minister of the Environment and Chief National Geologist, met with representatives of the Danish Government and Parliament. The meeting focused on shale gas exploration in Poland.
