Biodiversity Zone covered the eastern part of the Polish sea-shore

On the last (i.e. 28) August Sunday, the areas in the localities of Sopot and Władysławowo - being among the most frequently visited spas at the Bay of Gdansk, in the Polish coastal region - turned into a Biodiversity Zone, and the visitors just being there had an opportunity to get to know much in an educational village occasionally arranged by Ministry of the Environment about biological diversity and how it has to be protected by humans being an integral part thereof.

Polish Delegation participated to the Global Shale Gas Initiative Conference

The United States regards the strategic potential to cooperate internationally in the field of shale gas exploration, with Poland having the opportunity to play a leading role among the European Countries in this field. On 23-24 August 2010, in Washington D.C. the representatives of the Polish Environmental Sector took part to the First International Conference under the Global Shale Gas Initiative (GSGI).

The Natura 2000 European Ecological Network, Environmental Impact Assessment procedures, and sustainable development issues are the topics to be discussed on the second seminar designed for journalists, the Directorate General of Environmental Protection used to organise in various cities in Poland. This one will be held on 9 September 2010, in Gdansk.

The Poles are aware of the Ministry's Environmental campaigns

Almost each Pole is aware of the social ecological campaigns being promoted by Ministry of the Environment, including that titled „Keep Your Soul Unpolluted”. This biggest ever such Ministry's public awareness raising campaign aimed at shaping people's environmentally friendly habits and attitudes has just passed its half-way. It includes, amongst others, the TV and radio broadcasting spots featuring a Roman Catholic priest who instructs his parishioners on adequate methods for conduct of waste and persuades them not to commit the „ecological sins”, such as burning no their household waste in house, collecting waste in a selective manner, and not discarding garbage into forest.
