Sławomir Brodziński, Vice-Minister of the Environment, attended the 6th Polish Waterworks Congress held under the motto: "Wodna racja stanu" ["Water national interest"].
At the concluded summit of the European Council (23–24 October), country leaders agreed on a new climate and energy package. All points that are important to Poland were decided in our favour, Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz sums up the results of negotiations.
The protection of Polish landscape was discussed by the participants of a conference entitled "Gdzie chcemy żyć – Krajobraz Polski” ["Where do we want to live – Polish landscape"] organised as part of the Public Debate Forum "Samorząd terytorialny dla Polski" ["Local government for Poland"] held in the Presidential Palace. The meeting was attended by Piotr Otawski, Vice-Minister of the Environment, Chief Nature Conservator.
The National Atomic Energy Agency reporting to the Minister of the Environment extends the scope of cooperation with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission — a US agency responsible for nuclear oversight.
The Council of Ministers has adopted guidelines to the draft Act: Water Law. It is planned to change the water governance and water management structure in accordance with the principle ‘one river, one administrator’. The competences related to investment and maintenance of water infrastructure are to be separated from administrative and planning functions.
Maciej Grabowski, Minister of Environment, decided to appoint Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak for the position of the Vice-president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management responsible for environmental undertakings.
