Minister Marcin Korolec, President of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP19) met in New York with Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General. The purpose of the meeting was to sum up the Polish Presidency of the Climate Convention and to evaluate its achievements. Other issues discussed included UN works on the broadly interpreted problem of climate change and the role that Poland may still have in international processes in this area.
A conference attended by 150 stakeholders from all over Poland commenced the process of social consultations on the updated draft water management plans (uWMP). They are one of the most important documents in the national water management. Opinions, comments and proposals concerning uWMP for all 10 river basins may be submitted by any person interested in water issues in Poland.
The problem of mercury in Poland in the light of new global legislation – such was the topic of the meeting organised in the Ministry of the Environment dedicated to the Mercury Convention (Minamata Convention on Mercury).
On 21 November this year, a conference was held at the Ministry of the Environment entitled „Ewolucja czy rewolucja w zmianach normy ISO 14001 – wpływ na rozwój EMAS” ["Evolution or revolution in the changes to the ISO 14001 standard – impact on EMAS’ development"].
With reference to the untrue information concerning the time of issuing decisions on the change of concessions presented in the interview for the Rzeczpospolita daily magazine by Mr Derek Lenartowicz, the Ministry of the Environment would like to present the actual dates.
The 18th meeting of the Polish-German Commission for Neighbourhood Cooperation on Environmental Protection was held from 20 to 21 November 2014 in Warsaw.
