Mr. Sławomir Brodziński, the Chief National Geologist, was a honorary guest of the 17th Conference on “Safety and Health Protection Problems in Polish Mining” convened by the State Mining Authority. Its two-day sessions, attended by more than 100 representatives of all the types of mining (underground, open-case and borehole mining), took place on 14 and 15 April in Zawiercie. The main issue of this year’s edition of the Conference was the culture of occupational safety, also including its psychological aspect.
The Carpathian primeval forest is the greatest natural asset of the Gorce range. This extensive forest complex, along with its mosaic of forest glades, creates a vegetal cover for the mountains and provides a refuge for the numerous animals.
15 environmental technologies (out of 44 submitted solutions) have been qualified for the second round of the 4th edition of GreenEvo contest, whose award committee is spearheaded by the Minister of the Environment, Maciej Grabowski. The solutions we chose are quite promising. I hope they will be successful on foreign markets, as was the case with the technologies of the previous GreenEvo winners, says the minister.
I'm hoping for new contracts for our companies – GreenEvo winners, said Marcin Korolec, Deputy Minister of Environment, summarizing the economic mission to Turkey. Turkey was very interested in Polish experiences in the field of environment protection, in particular in the area of waste management and renewable energy sources.
The swamp landscape of the Biebrza Valley are unique among its counterparts in other parts of Europe. It is the only such complex of lowlands peat in this part of the continent that survived almost untouched. The life in the park focuses around the river, which overflows – just like the Nile – in the spring and attracts huge flocks of migratory birds.
Minister of the Environment Maciej Grabowski signed the Ordinance on the establishment of a new District Mining Authority today in Gdańsk. As from April, the authority will take over the supervision over of mining companies operating within the territory of the Pomorskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeships and in the maritime area of the Republic of Poland.
